Bite Me is a game about talking your way out of a dangerous situation -- of being eaten! You play as a hero caught up in the grip of a terrible flannel-wearing giant. You engage in conversational intervals with the giant, being given three choices at a time. Each choice will either bring you closer to his hungry mouth, or put you further away. Let's All Share a Bed!: Triad, 2013

Triad is an insanely well-crafted idea. Three friends (I think) decide to share one moderately sized pink bed (uh oh), which though large, is nonetheless difficult to situate. Each individual has a unique pattern of sleep. You must determine how to get all of three of them to sleep soundly without disturbing one another. Oh, and there's a cat to make things even more difficult.

The thing I've enjoyed most about Triad is the simplicity of the concept. Yet, however simple it is, I am still hard at work at its answer! It's unbelievable that such a straightforward idea can be so difficult. But I am hooked. I will not be satisfied until I have conquered Triad. I will not be satisfied until I have successfully solved this tetristic puzzle of sleep.

My wife just solved it. She's a lot smarter than I am.

Considering Interaction: The Majesty of Colors, 2008

The Majesty of Colors is a game that sees you playing as a large, curious sea monster. You are looking for a way to interact with the world around you. The option is yours as to how you will go about interacting with it. Will you interact with curiosity? With violence? Will you hurt those helpless little humans? Will you simply watch them? And what about when they try to hurt you? What, then, will you do? Retaliate? Disengage? Submit yourself to death?

Creepy Little Thing: The Old Tree, 2012

If you are one who enjoys little clicking-puzzlers, you'll enjoy The Old Tree. This is the product of independent developer group, Red Dwarf Games. If you like what you see, donate some money to these guys, as they are still in the process of producing their first commercial title.

The Old Tree is creepy, yet it had some very beautiful moments. For one thing, the music was one of my favorite elements of the game. It was warm and enveloping, perfectly ambient; it was particularly fitting for the game type. Concerning gameplay, essentially, you're this little seed-like character, and you wander around vegetation and other strange locales until reaching your desired goal. It's actually a very gentle game and for those who enjoy little puzzles and have a few minutes to spare, I recommend playing through this one. I will definitely come back to this one in the future, as it is a delight to the senses.

Tortured Plaything: The Tin Soldier

In this sepia-toned, point-and-click puzzle game, you are a maimed tin soldier. Your goal is to hobble around on your good and only leg, interacting with other toys, as it becomes increasingly obvious that some twisted mind is to blame for the horror you continue to encounter. For example, the first character you stumble upon is a doll with a noose around her neck. Just a moment later you'll come across a teddy bear with his eyes gouged out. He'll beg you to grab some buttons from the ground, asking you to put them over the holes in his head, from which he once saw the world.


The music in The Tin Soldier is worth talking about. It's beautiful. There is one theme that continues to play throughout the game, and it brings to mind something Danny Elfman would write for a Tim Burton film. Then out of nowhere, a trumpet emerges, and suddenly it's a Mexican death march. The music is fitting to the scene. Everything is dark, gloomy, and surreal; you don't believe what you're seeing, yet it is right there in front of you.
